The secret to our future lies in our daily routine. — Elmer L. Towns
Regardless of the arena (profession, workplace) in which we choose to enter, on the playing field of life, the habits we develop early on pave the road upon which we will travel to the future. This is as much true in the spiritual realm as it is in the physical. Successful men and women in earthly pursuits become winners in their respective undertakings by establishing and maintaining a routine that excites, ignites, and propels them in the direction of their goals; their hopes and dreams.
For the Christian, Bible study as a daily routine is the secret to spiritual growth and maturity. Sitting down to a meal of God’s word regularly and routinely, as opposed to only when you feel hungry, will produce the kind of Godly character and spiritual strength taking you across the finish line of life saying:
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing” – 2 Timothy 4:7-8.
In the end, I want for my loved ones to recognize it is devotion to God’s word that keeps hope alive and burning within the soul becoming “a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105), a sure and certain guide for my aging feeble feet.
We pray that God has used this devotional to encourage and challenge you. If you would like to speak to someone about a spiritual decision or engage in a spiritual discussion, please click here. If you would like to support the ministry of Community Life Church, please click here.
